December 15th 2025 Hamilton Community Schools Athletics took a significant step forward on Monday night as the School Board unanimously voted 5–0 to approve the purchase of new weight room equipment, marking a major investment in student-athletes and physical education programming. The approved upgrades will completely enhance the current weight room and include three double half racks, each featuring a dedicated squat area on one side and a bench press on the other, allowing multiple students to train safely and efficiently at the same time. Additional equipment will include a new leg press, new dumbbells with storage, hex bars with storage, a new exercise bike, and a new treadmill. One of the most exciting components of the project is the installation of brand-new weight room flooring, fully certified to handle weight drops, and featuring the Hamilton Marines logo, adding both safety and school pride to the space. This upgrade comes at a crucial time for Hamilton Athletics. Over the past summer, the summer weights and conditioning program experienced tremendous growth, increasing from approximately 15 students per day to nearly 40 daily participants, with a peak of 55 students attending on one morning. The surge in participation highlighted the need for improved equipment to safely accommodate and continue growing the program. Athletic Director David Prokop emphasized that improving the weight room has been one of his top priorities. “One of my biggest goals was to improve our weight room program,” Prokop said. “That meant not only getting more students involved, but also making sure we had the equipment to support them properly and safely.” The upgraded weight room will benefit all athletic teams as well as the school’s weightlifting class, providing students with modern resources to build strength, confidence, and healthy habits. This investment represents more than just new equipment—it reflects a new mindset and culture within Hamilton Athletics, focused on growth, opportunity, and doing things the right way for student-athletes now and in the future. Hamilton Community Schools is excited to continue building momentum and providing first-class opportunities for its Marines, both in the classroom and in athletic development.
