May 6th 2025 The Hamilton Marines picked up a well-earned 4-2 win over Prairie Heights junior varsity team last night, using timely hitting and solid pitching to secure the victory. The Marines struck in the bottom of the third inning when Spencer Bredemeyer reached base with a one-out single. Clayton Spaw followed with a single of his own, setting the stage for Harry Richter, who ripped a double to drive in both runners and give Hamilton a 2-1 lead. In the fourth, Drew Merrit set the tone by getting hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. He later came around to score, extending the lead to 3-1. The Marines tacked on one more insurance run in the fifth when Jaggar Hurraw singled and eventually crossed the plate to make it 4-1. Prairie Heights managed to push one run across in the bottom of the fifth, but it wasn’t enough as the Marines picked up the win. On the mound, both Clay Spaw and Zane Ritter were effective, striking out four batters each to keep the Panthers in check.
