Hamilton Junior High Track Excels in First Hoosier Plain Conference Meet

May 12th 2025 The Hamilton Junior High track and field teams made a strong debut in the Hoosier Plain Conference Meet on Saturday, finishing with impressive team and individual performances in their first year as members of the conference. Boys Take 2nd Place in Conference Debut The Hamilton boys turned in a stellar effort, finishing second overall with 101.5 points, behind only Elkhart Christian Academy (147.5). The team showed strength in both track and field events: Ace Hill had a standout meet, placing 2nd in the 110 hurdles (19.04), 2nd in the 400 (57.58), and winning the 200 hurdles (29.65). Lucas Taylor dominated the distance events, earning 1st in the 1600 (5:11.97) and 1st in the 800 (2:21.83). Marcus Sommers also scored in both events, taking 5th in the 1600 (5:27.43) and 5th in the 800 (2:30.21). The 4x400 relay team finished 2nd but made history, setting a new school record with a time of 4:05.82. Abbott Lingo placed 1st in high jump (5-00) and 2nd in the 200 hurdles (31.75). Sommers also added a 3rd place finish in high jump (4-00). Lady Marines Place 3rd Overall The girls' team also had a strong performance, finishing 3rd overall with 78 points, ahead of Lakeland Christian Academy, Titan MS, and Bethany Christian. Lydia Hicks led the way with a 2nd place finish in the 100 hurdles (18.99) and 3rd in the 200 hurdles (34.23). Piper DePriest added depth with 4th in the 100 hurdles (19.36) and 5th in the 200 (30.25). Brookelynn Hart ran a solid race to take 5th in the 1600 (6:47.59). In the field, Heidi Richter cleared 4-04 to earn 3rd in high jump. In the throws, Gianna Ceci had a huge day, finishing 2nd in discus (61-03) and 5th in shot put (25-04.00). Sloan Hurraw followed with 5th in discus (53-04.50) and 4th in shot put (27-01.50). Season Finale Ahead With a memorable conference debut now in the books, the Hamilton Junior High track team will wrap up its season on Monday night at Eastside. The coaching staff and community are proud of the athletes’ hard work, dedication, and competitive spirit.
