Hamilton Falls to Elkhart Christian in Tight Hoosier Plains Matchup

May 13th 2025 In a back-and-forth battle at Jim Sanxter Field, the Hamilton's varsity baseball team came up just short against Elkhart Christian, falling 9-7 in a hard-fought Hoosier Plains Conference matchup on Tuesday night. Hamilton got off to a strong start, jumping out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning and extending it to 2-0 after two. The offense continued to roll with another run in the third to make it 3-1. But Elkhart Christian answered with a big fourth inning, rallying to take a 7-6 lead. By the end of the fifth, the Eagles had extended their lead to 9-6. Despite a strong push from the Marines, who added another run in the later innings, Elkhart Christian held on for the 9-7 win after seven competitive frames. Offensively, Hamilton saw contributions up and down the lineup. Harrison Richter led the way with a single, double, and triple, crossing the plate three times. Jaggar Hurraw added two doubles and a run scored, while Dylan Holiday chipped in with a single, a double, and a run of his own. Clayton Spaw, Spencer Bredemeyer (who also scored a run), Dalen Pfefferkorn, and Brandon Pfefferkorn each added singles to round out Hamilton’s offensive efforts. On the mound, Spaw and Ritter combined for nine strikeouts in the loss, keeping the game within reach throughout the night. Hamilton will look to bounce back when they travel to face Elkhart Christian again this Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
