September 30th 2025 The Hamilton Marines hosted the Lakeland Lakers JV squad on Monday night for a special Volley for a Cure event, and the night could not have gone better both on and off the court. Decked out in their bright pink uniforms, the Marines fed off the buzz in the building and gave the crowd plenty to cheer about, sweeping Lakeland in three straight sets: 26-24, 25-5, and 25-22. Emalynn Kline led the way offensively with 5 kills, while Marissa Mercer added 4 kills of her own. Tristen Creager dominated from the service line with 4 aces, and Giana Ceci made her presence felt at the net with a solo block. Beyond the action on the floor, the evening was highlighted by the community’s support for cancer awareness. The event—organized by TeigAnn Freed and Marissa Mercer with help from numerous families—featured a silent auction, bake sale, and an autograph ball raffle and ball auction. Together, the program raised an incredible $4,000 to donate to the Steuben County Cancer Association. The excitement wasn’t limited to varsity volleyball. Prior to the feature match, the Hamilton 5th/6th grade team improved their record to 12-0 on the season with a 2-0 victory over Fremont. The young Lady Marines have now won 24 of 27 sets this fall and will wrap up their season October 11th at West Noble. Looking ahead, Senior Night will take place this Wednesday, October 1st, with recognition beginning at 5:40pm. Six total seniors across volleyball, cross country, and girls golf will be honored. On Friday night, Hamilton will celebrate Youth Night, recognizing 3rd-8th grade volleyball players prior to warmups at 5:40pm.
