October 4th 2024 The Hamilton Lady Marines capped off a busy weekend of volleyball with a hard-fought Hoosier Plains Conference victory on Saturday at Lakeland Christian Academy. Hamilton battled through five sets, taking home the win 3–2. After dropping the first set 20–25, the Lady Marines responded with a dominant 25–14 second-set win and followed it up with a 25–21 third-set victory. Lakeland Christian forced a deciding fifth set by taking the fourth 25–19, but Hamilton answered with authority, closing out the match 15–6. Tristen Creager and Emalynn Kline led the offense with 6 kills apiece, while Lydia Hicks delivered 6 aces at the service line. Defensively, Gianna Ceci tallied 5 digs, and Akira Geeraedts anchored the net with 3 solo blocks. On Friday night, the Lady Marines traveled to Bethany Christian and came up short in straight sets, 23–25, 22–25, 18–25. Gianna Ceci paced the attack with 6 kills, while both Ceci and Hicks recorded 2 aces each. Teigann Freed provided strong defense with 10 digs, and Kline was a force at the net with 5 solo blocks. Prior to Friday’s game, Hamilton Community Schools recognized all 3rd–8th grade volleyball players as part of the district’s youth volleyball program. Following the match, the varsity team spent time signing autographs and meeting with fans, making it a memorable evening for the Hamilton volleyball community. Next up, Hamilton awaits the sectional draw on Sunday at 7 p.m. Sectionals will be hosted at Lakewood Park.
